Crianza con Amor

The first evidence-based parenting curriculum co-created with and for migrant families — now expanding to new communities and contexts.

What it is

Crianza con Amor (Parenting with Love) is a structured group parenting program grounded in trauma-informed, attachment-based approaches.

Developed by Nest Global in partnership with Dr. Xinshu She, Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Stanford University, the curriculum was co-designed with Nest parents themselves — ensuring it addresses real needs while honoring cultural strengths.

The program unfolds over eight sessions addressing topics prioritized by caregivers: empathetic communication, trauma-informed stress management, and childhood development in low-resource settings.

What the research shows

Using a randomized controlled design with 84 participants, Crianza con Amor showed a significant decrease in anxiety and depression symptoms and improved parent-child interactions. These findings have been presented at the National American Academy of Pediatrics conference (2024) and the Stanford Maternal Child Health Research Institute Symposium, with publication of the full curriculum underway.

Where it’s going

What began as a border pilot is now becoming a global resource. Crianza con Amor is expanding to new communities and contexts, with the full curriculum being prepared for broader publication and use.
