Expansion of Canyon Nest School for Refugee Children in Tijuana, Mexico

Canyon Nest School in Tijuana underwent a major expansion this summer in order to better accommodate the record number of migrant families sheltering at the US-Mexico border. With renovations complete, Canyon Nest can now provide a safe learning space for 300 refugee children and their families daily.

Canyon Nest School now features multiple classrooms for preschool and elementary aged children, an atelier (art studio), soccer field, playground, indoor-outdoor classroom, and a Parent & Me classroom for children ages 0-3 and their parents and caregivers, operating in partnership with UNICEF.

The Canyon Nest expansion was made possible through our generous partnership with Hauser & Wirth and at the hands of LA-based architect Glen Irani.
